The Gary RailCats, a professional baseball team and proud member of the American Association, are seeking a dedicated and energetic Box Office Intern for the 2024 season. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the sports and entertainment industry, particularly in ticketing and customer service.
Position Overview:
As the Box Office Intern, you’ll play a vital role in providing an exceptional fan experience from the moment guests arrive at the ticket window. You will gain experience in ticket sales, customer service, and event operations, with a strong focus on managing ticketing systems, processing orders, and enhancing the fan experience. This role is ideal for someone interested in pursuing a career in sports management, hospitality, or ticketing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in daily box office operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Process ticket transactions via TIXR (the RailCats’ ticketing platform), including online, phone, and walk-up sales.
- Provide excellent customer service by handling inquiries, resolving issues, and addressing concerns professionally and promptly.
- Support group and season ticket sales initiatives, assisting with outreach and order processing.
- Work closely with the game-day operations team to coordinate ticketing logistics for special events, promotions, and VIP experiences.
- Support the box office manager with administrative duties, event preparation, and post-game reporting.
- Assist in implementing strategies to increase fan engagement and ticket sales.
- Other duties as assigned such as mascot appearances, parades, and special events.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or graduate student attending accredited university. Must be able to earn college credit for internship.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Comfortable working with ticketing software (experience with TIXR is a plus but not required).
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work all 50 home games including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required during the baseball season.
- Passion for sports and a desire to learn more about the business side of the industry.
