Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in but not limited to asphalt paver operation, be able to drive the paver, be able to run the screw (run correct depth)and adjust as needed, and be able to see grade. This role involves operating various machinery and ensuring the efficient execution of tasks related to construction projects. The Operator will be responsible for maintaining safety standards while performing duties that contribute to the successful completion of projects. Being self motivated is a HUGE plus and comes with compensation. NOT LOOKING TO BABYSIT!!!!!!! Communication is key, always try to keep employer in the loop of any doctors appointments or any other type of appointments you may have so the company can plan for the applicant not being on the job. Need to have reliable transportation to our shop, and back home.
Responsibilities
- Check engine oil level on your assigned piece(s) of equipment upon jobsite arrival and add correct oil if needed.
- Check and clean air filters on assigned piece(s) of equipment upon jobsite arrival, after lunch break, at the end of the day.
- If equipment has an enclosed cab, make sure cab is kept neat, clean, and in order, keep windows clean. All cleaners will be provided by employer.
- Grease each piece(s) of assigned equipment greased, MUST be greased every 6-8 hours unless otherwise specified.
- Operate heavy equipment such as asphalt pavers, skid steer, motor grader, asphalt rollers, and mini excavators on construction sites.
- Perform asphalt paving, digging, and excavation tasks as required, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
- Assist in the installation of stone to get ready for the paving of asphalt driveways, parking lots, and private/public roadways and do so in a safely manner.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate project tasks and timelines effectively.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and regulations.
- Read and understand jobsite blueprints
- Able to set up and break down grade transits, lasers, while being able to read and understand what they are saying.
Experience
- Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, particularly asphalt pavers, asphalt rollers, skid steer, motor grader, and mini excavators.
- Familiarity with LeeBoy 8520B asphalt paver, Volvo asphalt rollers, Dynapac asphalt rollers, Weiler Rubber Tired Rollers, Bobcat equipment, construction site operations, including mechanical knowledge related to equipment maintenance.
- Experience with Installation of asphalt driveways, parking lots, and roadways is highly desirable.
- Experience in being able to prep jobsites for asphalt, spreading and compacting stone, Fine grading stone for asphalt set up is a HUGE plus.
- Strong understanding of safety practices in a construction environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team (meaning if you see a laborer struggling to get a pile of asphalt, stone, dirt, whatever the case may be. Go help them.) while also being self-motivated.
