Gasow Veterinary Hospital has an opportunity for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

We are open 7 days a week and offer routine veterinary care, as well as, Urgent Care on nights and weekends. This is an awesome opportunity for a full-time veterinary assistant who wants to offer high quality medical care to patients while advancing their own personal goals!

Shift Details: This is a full-time position that will include days, evenings, and rotating weekends. There is potential for the hours to be extended by then end of the year.
Schedules can vary and will include 2-3 evenings per week with a rotating weekend day 2-3 times a month. Schedules are set approximately 60 days in advance to allow for work/life balance and planning.
Pay Range: $15.00 - $17.00/hour depending on experience with potential for annual bonus.
***For urgent care shifts, there is a $5.00 shift differential.***

We are a AAHA accredited, 7 doctor practice that offers urgent care, CT scan, echocardiograms, ultrasound and more. We have big things planned for this year, including adding laparoscopic surgery to our services offered list! Coming soon, endoscopy and oncology services.
We have recently moved into our state-of-the-art NEW facility. This new facility has 10 exam rooms, 2 comfort rooms, 3 surgical suites and more.
We have added lots of bells and whistles for new equipment including Vetscaple CO2 surgical laser. This has offered our patients minimized bleeding, reduced risk of infection, less post-operative pain, swelling and discomfort.
Our clinic has a growth mindset that focuses on not only the growth of the practice, but growth of our employees as well. We have lunch and learns every other month, monthly one on ones to establish goals and a supportive staff ready to help teach and support one another.
We are looking for someone that has an eagerness to learn, pleasant personality with restraint and medical terminology experience.

Responsibilities
How you'll make an impact:
- Our Veterinary Assistants assist the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in all of their duties
- The Veterinary Assistant helps to prepare animals for exams and surgery.
- The Veterinary Assistant aids in performing medical treatments.
- The Veterinary Assistant will perform or prepare laboratory tests.
- The Veterinary Assistant will administer medications under the direction of a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.
- The Veterinary Assistant will obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens (cytology, blood draws, blood smear, fecal, etc.)
- The Veterinary Assistant works in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs.
- The Veterinary Assistant handles animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous and tactful manner, and inform staff and clients of any pertinent medical information related to animal care.
- The Veterinary Assistant maintains a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant and clean facilities for the animals.
Qualifications
Physical demands and work environment
- The Veterinary Assistant must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker. Requires sufficient ambulatory skills.
- The Veterinary Assistant must be able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high.
- The Veterinary Assistant is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
- The Veterinary Assistant must be fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
- The Veterinary Assistant must be able to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members.
