What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Intake Coordinator position at Gaspy Infusion Services, Inc.?
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will specialize in processing benefits and authorization requests for a wide range of therapies, namely, the IV infusion and injectable medications relating to the rheumatology, ophthalmology, immunology, gastroenterology, and neurology practice areas and their corresponding disease states
As an insurance/intake coordinator, once infusion therapy referrals are received from physicians offices, you will perform insurance benefit verifications and prior authorizations for patients, discuss coverage and estimated financial responsibilities with patients and their families, manage the day-to-day schedule for infusion patients, and more
Establish and maintain relationships with referral sources by receiving and processing intake information for potential patients who require infusion therapy
Verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations/re-certifications, schedule patients, and track patients’ progress
Request necessary documentation from referring providers, patients, and their insurance companies
Review ordering physician notes and infusion orders to ensure accuracy and consistency
Communicate with patients/families regarding coverage and payment responsibilities
Enter and maintain patient demographic information in EMR system
Oncall for phone calls every 3 weekends - bonus provided
Qualifications:
2 years’ experience working in a medical/clinical setting, ideally infusion-related
Experience collecting patient referral information in the healthcare space
Experience obtaining insurance prior authorizations, pre-determinations, pre-certifications; and an understanding of insurance coverages and participation
Excellent soft skills: strong communication capabilities, emotional intelligence, dependable in attendance and job performance, team player with a positive attitude and work ethic, etc
