Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Ironworker/Iron Foreman to supervise and lead our ironworking team. This position requires strong leadership abilities, extensive knowledge of structural steel erection, and the ability to coordinate with project managers and other trades. The ideal candidate will ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coordinate, and lead a team of ironworkers on job sites.
- Interpret and execute project plans, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Oversee the layout and assembly of metal building frames, structural steel components, and miscellaneous metals, including stairs and railings.
- Ensure proper rigging and safe movement of materials using cranes.
- Direct the erection of steel columns, beams, and other structural components.
- Perform and oversee welding operations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Conduct safety tool box talks, enforce company safety policies, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and communicate effectively with project managers and other supervisors.
- Ensure work meets project deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Train and mentor crew members, providing guidance and hands-on instruction.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy and adherence to plans and specifications.
Qualifications:
- Certified Welder with proven ironworking experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or lead position in structural steel erection.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of rigging techniques and crane operations.
- Proficiency in the layout, assembly, and erection of structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work at heights and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills:
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Advanced rigging and welding certifications.
- Experience with scheduling and managing multiple crews.
