POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Water Exercise Instructors provide direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in aquatics group exercise classes. Water Exercise Instructors aid in providing excellent service to members of all ages in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment that promotes positive program experiences based on the specifically designed curriculum for skill development in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instructs Aquatic classes in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants in the class; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers participants to other programs.
- Maintains record of attendance as required.
- Attends staff meetings and training as scheduled.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports of damaged equipment.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Preferred experience teaching Aquatic Exercise
- Must have a Nationally recognized water certification or group exercise certification
- Fulfillment of specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific training. Required certifications provided by the YMCA upon hiring: RedCross Lifeguard certification
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Salary : $17 - $20
