The Grants Accounting Technician III serves as a senior accounting technician, providing advanced technical and administrative support to the Grants Development and Oversight Management Department. This role involves complex financial tracking, reporting, reconciliation, and budgeting duties. Additionally, the Grants Accounting Technician III acts as a liaison between the Grants Management and Oversight Department and external financial entities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local grant regulations. This position reports to the Grants Development and Oversight Manager and plays a critical role in supporting the department's financial integrity and operational efficiency.
Examples of Duties

Graduation with an Associate's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field with at least three (3) years of experience in financial management, grant accounting, or a related field, preferably within a nonprofit or government setting, is required.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Process payables, including travel requests and requisitions for POs and journal entries, ensuring compliance with grant requirements. Oversee and audit P-card charges, verifying purchase accuracy, account numbers, and proper allocation of taxes on a weekly basis. Conduct complex financial reconciliations to ensure expenditures are aligned with approved grant budgets and program objectives.
- Prepare, maintain, and monitor grant budgets, providing advanced support for financial forecasting and reporting. Develop and implement budget adjustment processes, ensuring compliance with grant stipulations and organizational policies.
- Collaborate closely with grants coordinators and external stakeholders to gather and verify data for Munis entries, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Coordinate with the Grants Coordinator on financial aspects of grants, managing submission deadlines, expenditure tracking, and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for audits. Prepare periodic financial and compliance reports for submission to federal, state, and other grant-awarding entities.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of documentation for grant-related financial activities, proactively addressing potential audit issues. Lead preparation for internal and external audits, serving as the point person for documentation requests and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of county financial policies, grant compliance regulations, and departmental procedures, advising the department on updates or changes. Train and mentor junior accounting technicians in procedures and best practices to ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
- Oversee financial tracking systems, ensuring data integrity for grant funds and other departmental revenues. Design and implement data management practices to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the financial tracking system.
- Other duties as assigned.
