What are the responsibilities and job description for the Natural Resources Intern position at Gaston County Government?

The Natural Resources Department works to sustain and improve the natural resources of Gaston County through regulatory, voluntary and education programs. This department works in conjunction with the Gaston Soil and Water Conservation District Board, to establish and develop soil and water conservation programs within Gaston County.
The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

Assist Natural Resources Manager with tasks related to conservation in Gaston County to improve soil health and water quality through conservation planning and implementation.
Assist Environmental Educator with tasks to help improve environmental literacy in Gaston County.
Assist the Stormwater and Erosion Control Manager with tasks related to soil erosion and sedimentation control and stormwater control to improve water quality thorough regulatory programs.
Assist the Floodplain and Watershed Administrator with tasks related to floodplain regulations and the water supply watersheds in Gaston County to help improve safety in flood prone areas and water quality within water supply watersheds.
Perform other tasks as required.

Two or more years of higher education in a field related to environmental science, natural resources, water resources, civil engineering, or environmental engineering.
Valid State Driver's License

The candidate selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.

Salary : $20
