Definition
The Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for leading the development, writing, implementation, and evaluation of the district's curriculum in specific content areas. This role involves ensuring that all curriculum aligns with state and district standards, fostering instructional coherence across the district, and supporting teachers in delivering high-quality instruction.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead the development, writing, and revision of curriculum maps, units, instructional resources, and curriculum websites in assigned content areas.
• Ensure alignment of the curriculum with state standards, district goals, and best instructional practices.
• Collaborate with school-based coaches, school administration, and other specialists to support curriculum implementation across the district.
• Design and provide ongoing professional development and training for teachers on curriculum-related topics.
• Analyze student performance data to inform curriculum adjustments and instructional strategies.
• Stay informed about current trends and research in education, curriculum development, and content-specific pedagogy.
• Attends NCDPI curriculum meetings and training for important content-specific information and updates. Disseminates information from the meetings and trainings to the necessary stakeholders.
• Coordinate and participate in curriculum adoption processes, including the distribution and evaluation of instructional materials and resources.
• Support the integration of technology into the curriculum to enhance learning outcomes.
• Work closely with the Director of Elementary/Secondary Instruction to ensure curriculum initiatives align with district-wide instructional goals.
• Attends and participates in Academic Services events (i.e. Robotics, Science Fair, etc)
• Performs other related duties as required.

• Strong knowledge of Vertical Alignment and Standard Course of Study; K-12
• Strong knowledge of research-based frameworks and best instructional practices
• Strong knowledge of state and district initiatives
• Knowledge of curriculum integration
• Proven ability to plan, execute, and deliver professional learning at the district level
• Ability to successfully relate to adult audiences and groups
• Ability to disaggregate data and redirect instruction based on results
• Experience working effectively with Professional Learning Communities
• Experience with technology integration in education
• Experience with program evaluation
• Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift objects.
• Must possess the visual acuity to operate required office equipment and inspect work for accuracy, thoroughness, and adherence to work standards and instructions.
• Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data, work with records processes, and do extensive reading and research.
Minimum Education and Experience
• Master’s degree or higher in education, curriculum and instruction, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in the assigned content area.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in the content area with supporting data.
• Proven record of improving student achievement at the school or district level with supporting data.
Reports to: Director of Elementary/Secondary Instruction
Salary: North Carolina Central Office Salary Schedule
Classification: Exempt
This is a 12-month position.
