What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Insurance Advisor/Front Office Support position at Gastro Florida?
We are seeking a few competent, conscientious, service-oriented individuals with strong character to serve as Patient Insurance Advisor/Front Office Support for our gastroenterology office located in Palm Harbor. He/She will work under the direction of the office's Practice Manager or his/her designee.Role:Authorization & Referrals- Verify patient eligibility with insurance carriers.- Processing on a timely basis, requests for services and/or procedures requiring pre-certification and/or authorization as received from physician's and/or other providers' offices.- Telephoning, faxing or otherwise communicating with insurance carriers and referring physicians for purposes of obtaining approval for services requiring pre-certification and/or prior approval.- Tracking through electronic and/or other means the number, nature status of referrals received on a daily, weekly, or other basis as may be required for quality assurance and/or other internal review purposes.- Properly calculates and collects out of pocket expenses for patients.- Advises patient on payment options (e.g. payment plan, prescription assistance programs).Check-in- Greet and arrive all patients in a courteous manner.- Ensure patients complete the required documentation and their information (insurance, demographic, etc) is current.- Enter appropriate data into EMR.- Collect any patient copayments and balances.Check-out- Inquire if patient has any more questions from their visit. Alert supervisor if service recovery needed.- Collect any co-insurance or balances not collected during check-in.- Schedule follow-up appointments.Scheduling (30%)- Schedule office appointments and if applicable surgery facility procedures.- Request PCP or referring doctor, authorization, office notes, and diagnosis codes related to the procedure(s).- Respond to requests for medical records or other forms to be completed by providers.- Recommend actions and strategies to improve patient access.Additional Billing/Telephone- Maintain current with HIPAA and other compliance training.-Call patients/physician offices when needed to update information.- Triage incoming phone calls in an effective mannerCriminal background and drug screening required as well as excellent professional references.
