Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified Surgical Pathologist with expertise in Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting pathology-related tissue biopsies, resections, and frozen sections, particularly in gastrointestinal cases. This role offers flexible employment options, with full-time or part-time availability.
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and timely diagnoses from tissue specimens, with a strong focus on gastrointestinal pathology.
- Perform professional services, including interpretation of biopsies, resected specimens, and frozen sections (where applicable).
- Ensure that all testing systems provide quality clinical laboratory services, covering preanalytical, analytical, and postanalytical phases.
- Collaborate with clinicians to provide diagnostic consultations and recommendations.
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, and state/federal laboratory regulations.
- Review and approve pathology-related policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs.
- Supervise and ensure appropriate staffing of qualified personnel within the laboratory.
- Participate in quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs to maintain excellence in laboratory services.
- Assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for pathology services rendered.
- Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME) to stay current with advancements in pathology.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with all HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
Qualifications:
- MD or MD/PhD from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) by the American Board of Pathology (ABP).
- GI pathology experience preferred, with at least 2-3 years of post-residency experience.
- Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of Florida (Required).
- Florida Laboratory Director License (Required).
- Strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
