Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and the ability to work effectively with a team in a retail environment. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient preparation and dispensing of medications while delivering exceptional patient service.
Duties
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including IV infusions, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate medication records and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Provide patient care by answering inquiries regarding medications and health-related questions.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Manage inventory levels of medications and supplies, ensuring proper storage conditions.
- Perform routine quality checks on medications and equipment used within the pharmacy.
- Educate patients on the proper use of inhalers and other medication delivery systems.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with pharmacy practices and regulations.
Requirements
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred; relevant experience in a retail setting or acute care setting is highly desirable.
- Proficient understanding of medical terminology related to pharmaceuticals and patient care.
- Demonstrated knowledge of compounding and adherence packaging.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
