Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Estimating Manager, the Estimator will prepare proposals or tenders for clients, track project costs, and work closely with vendors to meet project budgets. The Estimator will work closely with the Business Development and Operations teams and utilize company software and client-provided project details in order to execute proposals. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, specifications, and related documents.
- Review bid pricing from all vendors and prepare cost analysis.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Ensure timely completion of estimates.
- Manage opportunities across multiple departments in the current opportunity software program.
- Become familiar with all company-owned assets for proper estimation.
- Attend and/or sponsor pre-bid meetings as necessary; i.e. Houston, contractor offices and work locations (offshore and onshore).
- Execute all monetary evaluations and estimations for each opportunity using the approved Job Proposal Analysis (JPA) form.
- Act as a resource for project managers by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for changes in the work, during different project phases.
- Adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for all opportunities.
- Submit all proposals using the correct forms. At all times professionally communicate with clients: i.e. phone, email and in person.
- Must clearly and effectively communicate between various inter-company groups: Operations, Business Development and Administration.
- Ensure client satisfaction through effective project delivery and QA/QC.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- College degree preferred.
- High school diploma/GED required.
- 2 years of industry experience preferred.
- 2 years of estimating experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of finance and accounting sufficient to understand concepts such as cost, revenue, and gross margin.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Software.
- Ability to problem solve on a daily basis and coordinate numerous activities at the same time.
- Ability to stay on task despite demands from other departments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Senior Management, staff, clients, vendors, and general public.
- Provide a work environment that engages safety, positivity, creativity, responsibility, and teamwork.
Physical Requirements
- Minimal travel may be required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
