Job Summary
The Sr. HR Business Partner is a key staff member responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management by collaborating with business operational leaders to understand business issues and developing initiatives/programs to support the business. Administers human resources policies, programs, and practices while supporting the activities of the VP of HR at the corporate level. This role plays a key part in the collaboration of administrative, engineering, and technical groups at GATE. This position is accountable for GATE Human Resource service delivery and the compliance of GATE operations.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of eight years related human resources management experience required
- 2 years of oil and gas experience required
- Professional human resources certification preferred
- Extensive knowledge of employment law required
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the Company
- High level of integrity and dependability required
- Poised and professional mannerisms, thorough and thoughtful in approach
- Strong problem-solving and creative skills
- Experience working with legal counsel on immigration and non-immigrant worker visas
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment making decisions based on accurate and timely analyses

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Resolves routine employee relations issues and complaints
- Able to manage difficult or very complex issues. Acts as a resource for managers and employees to ensure their understanding and compliance with HR policies and regulations
- Keeps management advised of potential problem areas and recommends/implements solutions as appropriate
- Acts as an advisor to supervisors and managers, ensuring legal compliance and resolution of personnel actions and concerns
- Counsels’ employees and managers regarding general issues about benefits, terminations, policy interpretation, and other HR products and deliverables
- Processes required documents for employee new hires, separations, and changes through UltiPro (UKG) to ensure timely and accurate record-keeping
- Coordinates out-processing paperwork for all separations
- Maintains internal HR databases (i.e., tracking sheets)
- Completes reporting on time and accurately partners with employees and management to interpret Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations
- Assists with communicating changes to employees and conducting employee presentations
- Participates in department meetings and works to expand the level of knowledge in all HR disciplines through on-the-job training, in-house training, self-study, and outside training as available
- Manages compliance with federal and state regulations relative to onboarding, employment, employee relations, and terminations
- Conducts employee relations investigations (and counseling as necessary) concerning work-related problems and sees through to resolution
- Analyzes exit interview data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action, continuous improvement, and increased retention rates
- Represents the company at Human Resources related hearings and investigations and unemployment claims
- Facilitate and/or provide HR-related training to the workforce
- Works with the HR VP in developing department goals, and objectives, and partner with other departments to complete projects in other areas of Human Resources as assigned
- Supervises HR Generalist and Front Office Administrator and provides coaching and mentoring
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
