EDUCATION: Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with staff.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Three to five years of experience working in the landscape industry as an equipment operator or laborer. Must have valid state driver’s license.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have working knowledge of how to properly install landscape material of various sizes. Must know how to operate, including safety features, all of the equipment associated with mowing.
JOB SUMMARY: Gather crew and equipment together for the day’s jobs. Work with and supervise crews to insure jobs are completed, thus meeting guests’ satisfaction of the grounds.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Must be able to operate mowing equipment. Must be able to drive a motor vehicle. Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
1. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends, holidays and split shifts.
2. Must arrive to work on time, consistently.
3. Upon entering the property, arrive in proper uniform, crisp, clean and in good repair.
4. Hair must be clean and cut in a becoming style; management has final approval.
5. Attend all required training, safety courses; attend office and departmental meetings.
6. Report any safety hazards, follow up that hazard has been corrected, and assist with providing a safe work environment.
7. Read board start of day, making note of jobs to be done, crews to assign, and equipment needed for the jobs. Gather crews and equipment.
8. Supervise and work with 2-5 man crews to perform jobs.
9. Insure crew use equipment properly and following set safety standards.
10. Perform all labor intense jobs for grounds, to include ditch digging.
11. Learn the personalities of the crews so as to put groups together effectively.
12. Perform work as assigned by the Grounds Superintendent.
