WHAT TO EXPECT

This position reports to the Advanced Material Development Laboratory Manager and works with the Materials Science team and laboratory. You will assist engineers and scientists as we develop new materials for the next generation of power transmission products. Specifically, this position will include running material tests in the laboratory, acquiring data and learning the methods to analyze material data relative to belt performance and business goals. Additional expectations are to support report writing, operations manufacturing feasibility and presentations to global colleagues.
Key responsibilities (to name a few) :
- Executing lab orders to follow specific material formulation & testing directions in the Material Development Laboratory with attention to priority and due dates.
- Working knowledge of equipment, chemicals and products for productivity and safety.
- Providing accurate and repeatable data, understanding this is critical to timely development.
- Managing priorities for the variety and complexity of assignments, including multitasking as required.
- Assisting with experimental trials in the manufacturing environment.
- Participate in and influence decision making by gathering, organizing, and presenting information / data.
- Typically, the Engineering Technician is cross trained in all the major lab material development methods / tests in the laboratory, including Mill Area, Textiles Area, Cut and Cure, Aging, Dynamic Testing, Rheology, Adhesion Testing, Instron Testing
