The USP Office of the President (OOP) strives to amplify US programs’ impact by aligning and delivering cross-team strategic and operational resources and insights while encouraging a high integrity culture. Our mission is to enhance the impact of division programs and operations, and high standards of stewardship through performance management and the strategic allocation of resources. We also deliver division-wide support to program teams to bolster capacity and drive the implementation and associated change management of programmatic and operational initiatives. Application Deadline: August 16, 2023 Your Role We seek a Senior Program Officer (SPO) to lead our evolving work on data analytics, modeling and insights generation across education and economic mobility for the US Program division. In this role, you will be the in-house expert and support to the division for developing hypotheses, synthesizing research, analyzing, modeling and visualizing data, and generating insights to inform our work, program and investment strategies. Your work will involve identifying new opportunities, making and managing investments, leading analytical and modeling projects, and collaborating with other in-house data and modeling teams within and across divisions. You will collaborate with multiple teams at the foundation and external partners, shaping our understanding of the complex challenges as well as opportunities that have implications for our work and impact. This position reports to the Director, Strategy, Planning & Management. *This is an 18-month limited-term employment position based in our Seattle, WA campus with foundation-provided benefits. Foundation-sponsored relocation support will be offered, if needed. What You’ll Do Directly analyze existing and new research and evidence to develop insights that inform thinking across the division. Complete quantitative analysis projects, including data collection, literature review, data analysis, and visualization. Aggregate and interpret insights and implications from related work across the division to develop a compelling narrative. Synthesize research and analytics information and translate it into practical insights, guiding division leadership on where to focus time and attention. Interpret and present data, model assumptions, analytical methods, and results to audiences with varying levels of data skills. As needed, support program teams in their data modeling, visualization and analytics efforts in their respective sectors. Collaborate with directors and deputy directors and colleagues across teams to understand core program decisions and strategic choices and translate those into quarriable analyses. Design and manage multiple complex qualitative and quantitative research projects, including selecting the right vendors, methodologies, and techniques, interpreting data and developing recommendations to advance the research road map. As appropriate, develop and support standardized processes and frameworks for data, analytics, and insights generation, ensuring consistency and quality across the division Identify and lead a set of external experts and thought partners across the relevant dimensions, as needed Your Experience Advanced degree and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as statistics, data science, or education Experience working in the education or economic mobility sectors, with a focus on data analytics and related technologies Expertise in synthesizing complex information, generating insights, and communicating compellingly Demonstrated ability to address complex and ambiguous questions through strategic problem-solving, insight generation, and cross-team collaboration. Expertise in data analytics, data visualization and modeling, research synthesis, market dynamics analysis, and insight generation Excellent organizational skills, able to lead and work through sophisticated and ambiguous tasks. Ability to link research findings and data-driven insights with broader strategic goals and policy recommendations, presenting information in a manner that is accessible to various partner groups. Energetic and collaborative, able to work effectively in a matrixed environment with a "one team" mentality. Comfortable working with agility, efficiency, and tact in a dynamic environment, and able to adapt to a small team in start-up mode with ambiguity. Effectively plans, organizes, and prioritizes work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands, requiring the ability to see the critical path, measure and mitigate risk, and make trade-offs. The typical salary range for this role is $149,800 to $278,700 USD.
