Gateway Academy is an accredited independent boarding school for boys grades 9-12. Our mission is to provide an encouraging and challenging academic environment where students develop into confident communicators who think critically and become independent, life-long learners. We do this through an individualized balance of therapy, college preparatory academics, and recreational activities. We have approximately 40 students, and our average class size is 4-6 students. This position is full-time (40-hours per/week) and includes teaching classes Monday -Thursday from 11:00 AM - 4:30 PM, preparation time, and professional development training. Teachers have most Fridays off. Though our school is open year round, teachers have 6 weeks of scheduled breaks, plus holidays throughout the school year.
Qualifications: Teaching experience is required, preferably in a high school or RTC environment. Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check and possess or be eligible for a Utah State Teaching License.

Job Description/Overview:
- Create lesson plans for a high school curriculum that includes: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-calculus, AP Calculus, honors level, and independent study courses. Course plans should be based on performance indicators and the State of Utah Core Curriculum Standards.
- Provide classroom instruction to meet individual student needs including; independent study, identified special education goals, learning differences, and varying ability levels.
- Measure and record student achievement using a combination of assessments. Provide updates regarding student behavior and performance in the classroom through: Teacher Notes, Faculty Meetings, Progress Reports, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Report Cards. Input student grades weekly and prepare midterm and final grading reports.
- Maintain a basic understanding of individual student history as it pertains to education and clinical issues; be familiar with student treatment plans and interventions; collaborate with the clinical team in providing direction of treatment related to student academic achievement.
- Attend professional development trainings, staff meetings, parent weekend conferences, and any other meetings as assigned by the Academic Director. Participate in cross-curricular collaboration, peer-mentoring, classroom observations, and evaluations as assigned.
