POSITION: ADULT RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF ADULT RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
POSITION OBJECTIVES
Provide both direct and indirect services to patients in the adult residential treatment program. Work within a multidisciplinary treatment team and with community providers from a ROSC approach to ensure patient needs are met and discharge plans are appropriate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensure quality internal and external customer care and service.
- Provide assessments for all eligible patients.
- Provide group and individual sessions.
- Develop patient treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
- Review and evaluate patients' progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment plans.
- Participate in case conferences and staff meetings.
- Plan and implement discharge plans.
- Make appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Coordinate activities with courts, probation officers, community services and other referral sources.
- Provide suicide risk screening and make recommendations.
- Ensure completeness and timeliness of clinical documents and administrative forms to meet all credentialing and accreditation standards.
- Demonstrate flexibility as a team member and promote a positive working environment, including collaborating with Gateway’s other programs.
- Make an attempt to contact the informal supports (ie: family) of each patient to gather corroborating information, if applicable
- Provide feedback to referral sources (PRN, Child Welfare, Probation, etc.) regularly.
- Train new staff members as needed.
- Perform peer review assessments monthly
- Attend Medical Staffing with Medical Director and Triage meetings
- Perform special projects and other Agency related assignments as requested.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Assist Director of Adult Residential Services as needed.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES OF A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL (CAP, MCAP, LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, ETC.)
- Complete all documentation meeting the standards required for private insurance plans
- Act as a member of the Crisis Intervention Team completing Risk assessments and Baker Acts as needed
- Supervision of staff and interns needing licensed supervision.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Must pass required background investigation. * Must complete all required and assigned trainings.
- Must abide by Agency's Code of Ethics, Agency Standards, Policy and Procedures Manuals.
- Must practice universal precautions as part of regular job duties whenever applicable.
- Must possess competencies required to effectively understand and deal with population served.
- Must be able to perform assigned work independently with minimal supervision.
- Timely and regularly complete all required documentation, reports, and other Agency related paperwork.
- Ability to function as an effective team member.
- Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Ensure safe operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
- Must not engage in behaviors that erode the cohesiveness of the program staff.
QUALIFICATIONSFORMALEDUCATION/EXPERIENCECERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
- Masters degree in related field and 3 years experience in the treatment of behavioral health disorders
- CAP Preferred
- License (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, etc) Preferred

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
