What are the responsibilities and job description for the Local Class A CDL Driver position at Gateway Extrusions?
Material movement of finished goods in the plant using company vehicle. Use computer systems to document and record transactions and print labels. Ensure inventory accuracy when shipping, receiving, or performing any material movement. Perform housekeeping tasks on a daily basis. All functions will be performed in a manufacturing plant that is not climate-controlled. Responsible for serving both internal and external customers for staging of materials and / or final products. Remain current in necessary training programs according to the requirements of the DOT and Gateway Extrusions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Perform duties in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures.
DOT and vehicle daily inspection.
Load and unload trucks.
Material handling of material used at the facility.
Operate forklift and company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
Receive or transfer material as needed.
Learn all aspects of the computer system including shipping, receiving, and transfers.
Label and store all material in correct storage locations.
REQUIREMENTS :
Valid Class A CDL license.
High School Diploma / GED preferred.
Basic math, reading and record keeping skills required.
Ability to maneuver 25-foot wide racks with proper material handling equipment.
Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted and up to 75 pounds as a team lift.
Tractor-trailer experience is a must and be able to demonstrate driving skills.
One-year experience in a warehouse environment.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Must be able to pass DOT physical
Must be able to work variable shifts that may consist of days, nights, and / or weekends, and overtime hours as required by the Company. Typical hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 : 00 a.m. through 3 : 30 p.m.
No serious traffic violations in the last 3 years; this would include NEVER being convicted of the following : reckless / careless driving; driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs; hit & run, leaving the scene of an accident or failure to report an accident; excessive speeding 20 mph or more over the posted limits.
Previous experience loading / unloading flatbed trailers and tarping.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Work involves standing, walking, reaching, using a keyboard, stooping, kneeling, repetitive motion and moving, lifting or pushing objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
Operate various laboratory instruments.
Plant environment may be hot, floors may be slippery and uneven.
