Gateway is hiring an Field Engineer to assist in building and maintaining our network expansion efforts in support of Gateway’s growth trajectory of adding 100,000 residential & business passings per year. The Field Engineer is expected to contribute in the following significant ways:
- Manage all physical connectivity of equipment in Central Offices and Active Cabinets
- Complete installation of server racks and cabinets
- Install optical transceivers and fiber optic jumpers
- Work cross-functionally to determine connectivity requirements for different departments
- Complete equipment racking and grounding to design specifications
- Perform cable continuity testing and troubleshoot any issues
- Perform equipment and hardware testing and turn-up and verify appropriate status
- Install, add, and remove batteries per design specifications and life cycle needs
- Provide knowledge and input regarding network engineering and design capabilities
- 10 Years Field Engineer experience
- 3 Years Telecom Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Complex problem-solving skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong follow-up skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills, including positive phone demeanor
- Proficiency (MS Office-Word, Excel, Outlook)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for varying lengths of time throughout a day, with or without reasonable accommodation
