Essential Job Functions: Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Obtaining all necessary loan documents from borrowers, including income verification, employment details, and asset information.
- Reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy, identifying any discrepancies or missing information.
- Performing data entry into loan processing software.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
Credit and appraisal ordering:
- Initiating credit reports and ordering appraisals based on loan requirements.
- Reviewing credit reports for accuracy and potential issues.
Communication with borrowers and lenders:
- Contacting borrowers to request missing documents or clarify information.
- Communicating with lenders regarding loan status updates and any necessary approvals.
Compliance checks:
- Ensuring loan applications adhere to all relevant lending regulations and guidelines.
- Identifying potential compliance concerns and escalating them to senior processors.
Loan file management:
- Organizing and maintaining loan files electronically, ensuring proper documentation is readily accessible.
- Tracking loan progress through the processing stages.
Support to senior processors:
- Assisting senior processors with more complex loan packages.
- Performing administrative tasks as needed.
Essential skills:
- Attention to detail: Critical for accurately reviewing documents and data entry.
- Strong communication skills: Necessary for interacting with borrowers, lenders, and internal teams.
- Organizational skills: To manage multiple loan files and deadlines effectively.
Experience:
- Previous experience in loan processing or a related banking environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with underwriting processes and credit analysis techniques is a plus.
- Basic math skills are essential for calculating loan amounts, interest rates, and payment schedules.
- Knowledge of FNMA guidelines, Fair Housing regulations, TILA requirements, and general loan origination practices will be beneficial but can be trained on site.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are critical for managing multiple loan applications simultaneously.
