Peer Recovery Specialists are responsible for:
Providing support to the criminal justice involved client both while in-custody and post release
Serving as a role model by exhibiting long-term stable personal recovery and use of appropriate coping skills
Conducting group sessions and assisting clients with goals for recovery
Consulting with other treatment team members
Providing resources to assist with recovery and transition
Traveling throughout State to provide peer support services to clients in SUD treatment
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
Former participant in a substance abuse treatment program and demonstrated long-term stable recovery
Therapeutic Community experience desired
Certified Missouri Recovery Support Specialist-Peer (MRSS-P) as required by the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB)
Current driver’s license and good driving record
Must be able to obtain Missouri Department of Corrections clearance
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients.
Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide support.
Ability to proofread and check documents and files for accuracy on a regular basis.
Ability to respond to telephones and pages, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises.
