Job Description
Counselors are responsible for conducting client interviews to review substance use disorder and treatment history, evaluating client response to treatment, and developing individualized treatment plans. They also provide basic didactic group counseling, individual client counseling, and educational programs to address relapse prevention and problem-solving skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a Human Service field from an accredited college or university
- Some previous experience in substance use treatment/counseling and/or mental health counseling preferred
- Must be able to obtain Florida Department of Corrections clearance to work in the correctional institution
