What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN RN Recovery Room/G.I. Endoscopy/SDS position at Gateway Regional?
Evaluates assigned patients (adult, geriatric & occasional pediatric) and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Phase 1 recovery of the patients as well as post-op education for home care after surgery. Ability to work in a team environment. In addition, ability to float to G.I. endoscopy and same day surgery as needed. Will train. Excellent IV skills helpful. Perform outpatient infusions to include blood transfusion, antibiotics, iron infusions and some specialty drugs. Assists physicians during examinations and procedures. Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires an associate's degree and is certified as a registered nurse. Prefer Bachelors degree in Nursing. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
