Gateway Rehab has an opportunity for a Life Skills Coordinator position located in Washington, PA. Our Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating life skills programming for the residential program. This position receives frequent supervision and instruction.
Responsibilities
- Organizes and implements Community Service activities for patients, including completing appropriate documentation.
- Observes, interacts, and engages with patients while at Community Service.
- Documents Community Service hours performed by each patient.
- Organizes and documents necessities passes for outside shopping.
- Fundraises continuously throughout the year to ensure the patient activity fund stays replenished.
- Organizes and replenishes donations received for clothing, following GRC guidelines.
- Develops and implements a Life Skills curriculum for patients to include GED training, job search planning, OVR contact, resolution of legal issues and debt reduction planning.
- Conducts daily room inspections and addresses cleanliness with patients as needed.
- Organizes and implements therapeutic recreational activities.
- Organizes holiday activities for patients.
- Implements evidence-based practices utilized in Gateway’s continuum of services in therapeutic recreational activities.
- Facilitates psychoeducational, Life Skills, and other patient groups as assigned.
- Provides coverage for the counselor technician position as needed.
- Coordinates the purchasing and distribution of hygiene products and clothing to patients as appropriate.
- Transports patients to off-site activities.
- Establishes relationship with appropriate community resources.
- Attends Gateway mandatory trainings and in services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of life skills needs through life experience and/or training.
- Understanding of household budget planning.
- Understanding of 12 step recovery programs and the recovery process preferred.
- Computer literacy preferred.
- Excellent people skills and organizational skills.
- High school diploma or GED

- Obtain Child Abuse and FBI Clearances
- Pass Drug Screen
- TB Test
- Valid driver’s license with favorable driving record.
- CPR certification.
- Flexibility regarding work schedule.
- This position requires mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to provide a safe treatment environment for Gateway residents.
