Job Description
The Cost Accounting Manager will oversee inventory and cost standards, including production labor and overhead costs. The role involves tracking daily activities, developing systems for financial analysis and reporting, and collaborating with operations, supply chain, and procurement teams. The manager will also handle Sox control-related tasks.
Responsibilities :
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close for costing and inventory.
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Analyze and explain gross margin fluctuations.
- Collaborate with operations to reduce manufacturing variances.
- Generate timely inventory and costing reports.
- Review standard costs and conduct cost roll-ups for new products.
- Investigate and resolve significant variances.
- Analyze inventory for excess and obsolete reserves.
- Support internal / external audits with analysis and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures.
- Oversee and coach the cost accounting team, including performance reviews.
- Lead plant capital budgeting and budget / forecast processes.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Controller or CFO.
Requirements
B.S. degree in Accounting required, MBA and / or CPA strongly preferred.
At minimum of 7 years of cost accounting and financial reporting experience with 3 years supervisory experience. Former cost accounting experience in the manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
Expert skills in Microsoft Excel required. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Teams and Word is essential.
A working knowledge of ERP software is required. NetSuite experience is strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal, analytical and leadership skills required.
Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing variances, overhead absorption, and standard costs.
Detailed experience with inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounts reconciliations and related accounting.
Experience with month-end closing and working in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with inventory cycle count process.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with a variety of other functional areas including operations, material planning, and warehouse teams.
