THIS POSITION IS A PART-TIME POSITION HAVING 20-25 HOURS PER WEEK. THE WORKING HOURS WILL VARY ACCORDING TO SEASONAL SCHEDULE CHANGES, VACATION, MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE CHANGES, AND STAFFING NEEDS.
Purpose of Job:
Under the direct supervision of the Parks & Recreation Supervisor, performs manual, semi-skilled, and skilled labor associated with assigned operations including, but not limited to: general maintenance of parks and recreation facilities i.e. Community Pool, Sherman Soccer Complex, FUN Park etc. This position is also required to work special events.
Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation: Employees in this classification will be required to report and carry out duties as directed for the duration of an emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs general repair and maintenance work on District buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities; performs semi-skilled and manual work involving grounds maintenance, parks/recreational facility maintenance, aquatic facility maintenance, road sign installation, building maintenance, plumbing maintenance, custodial maintenance, or other projects within the District; assists other workers as needed.
- Performs various tasks involving maintenance of parks, maintains playground and recreational equipment; repairs gates and fences; and picnic tables; sets timers for lights and irrigation systems; debris removal.
- Performs general/manual tasks associated with division projects; sets up or arranges equipment for special events/activities; lifts/moves furniture, equipment, and heavy materials; assists with cleanup following hurricanes, storms, or emergency situations.
- Operates, maintains, and performs minor repairs of equipment.
- Follow daily pool operations checklist including opening, midday and closing jobs as appropriate for scheduled shift.
- Operate and maintain the Commons Pool gate access. Access and verify resident's status from Lee County Property Appraisers Office Website.
- Maintain daily records for patronage admissions, sanitary water conditions (Chlorine & pH readings), accidents and first aid. Adjust chemicals as needed.
- Ensure restrooms, pool deck, pump house and pool filters are kept clean
- Ensure all District equipment and property is operational and maintained in safe condition. (Pool, deck, furniture, other items within Commons Pool area). Repair/correct as needed and report any unresolved issues to Pool Supervisor.
- Ensure Emergency services and equipment are available.
- Identifies and notifies supervisor of problems at parks, streets, and facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Know and follow Lee County Health Board Regulations.
- Know and follow Lee County & Gateway Rules and regulations pertaining to pool use.
- General knowledge of the tasks, tools and materials associated with pool and park maintenance, supply, inventory and equipment management.
- Ability to safely operate motorized tools, manual tools, and light equipment such as lawn mowers, weed eater, saws, drills, augers, tillers, compactors and emergency generators.
- Knowledge and application of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and follow written, diagram and oral instructions.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals and adhere to recommended safety procedures
