JOB DESCRIPTION: PARAPROFESSIONAL I
RANGE A
DEFINITION
Under the direction of the Classroom Teacher, Principal or Designee, performs required duties,
which may include classroom teacher assistance, crossing guard or yard duty assignments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Assists instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials, instructional exercises and shaping appropriate social behaviors.
• May administer and score a variety of general aptitude tests and record the test results.
• Administers routine first aid and requests assistance for non-routine injury or illness.
• Assists in maintaining an orderly, attractive and positive learning environment.
• Interacts with students, encouraging performance, observing progress and meeting instructional and behavioral needs as they arise.
• Shares observations with the teacher.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Assists with general campus supervision and discipline as assigned.
• Assists teacher in preparing materials, record keeping, obtaining supplies and use of media equipment.
• Is responsible for student safety when crossing streets en route to and from school.
• Works with students to reinforce material initially introduced by teacher.
• Follows accepted principles, practices, rules and regulations for the school to which assigned.
• Attends job related in-services, conferences and staff meetings as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Experience:
• One year of paid or volunteer experience working with multi-age groups of children.
Education:
• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training or coursework in child growth and development, instructional technology, or a closely related field.

GATEWAY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CLASSIFIED VACANCY: Clerk Typist I/Group Leader - Shasta Lake School (8.00 hrs/day) Shift Schedule: Mon: 8:40 am-12:40 pm (Clerk Typist) 1:10 pm-5:10 pm (Group Leader) 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break Tues-Fri: 9:30 am-1:30 pm (Clerk Typist) 2 pm-6 pm (Group Leader) 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break SALARY: $18.33 - $24.64 per/hr - Range D Clerk Typist I $17.52 - $23.57 per/hr - Range A Group Leader (Includes vacation factor) 182 workdays (14 District paid holidays) REQUIREMENTS: * Applicant must meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act. * Applicant must possess an AA Degree (or) have 48 semester units of college coursework (or) have passed the Paraprofessional Exam to qualify. **Proof of meeting these requirements must be attached to application. - Pass the General Clerical Exam at the 50th percentile or above. (Exam is administered by the District). - Type 45 net words per minute on a 5-minute timed writing. (No on-line certificates accepted.
