GATEWAY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION: CLERK TYPIST I RANGE 6 DEFINITION OF POSITION Under supervisor of the site administrator/program manager, performs a variety of clerical and general office work, including functions pertaining to student health. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs general clerical work, including typing, filing and initial phone contact and receptionist duties.
- Receives, sorts and distributes mail.
- Handles school related monies, prepares bank deposits and maintains related records.
- Compiles required school related reports.
- Operates standard office machines, including computer operating systems and programs.
- Makes arithmetical calculations in performance of duties.
- Maintains a variety of student health records.
- Records health appraisal history and the results of health appraisal examinations.
- Administers first aid to students and contacts parents and emergency assistance agencies in the case of a serious illness or injury.
- Dispenses medications to students.
- Maintains immunizations records.
- Assists in communicable disease control.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS
- Pass the General Clerical Exam administered by the district at the 50th percentile or above.
- Type 45 net words per minute on a 5-minute timed writing. (Outside certificate is acceptable) QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of:
- Basic first aid methods, procedures and techniques;
- Standard procedures pertaining to student health services;
- Equipment and supplies associated with student health;
- English, grammar, spelling, punctuation;
- Modern office methods and equipment, including computer technology;
- Receptionist and telephone techniques. Ability to:
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships;
- Understand and carry out oral and written instruction;
- Perform clerical work using independent judgment;
