Environmental Specialist

Description

Gateway seeks a reliable and skilled full-time Environmental Specialist to join our team. This position works at the highest levels of quality maintaining Gateway facilities to standards of excellence, and ensuring all life safety, regulatory, licensing, and other compliance requirements are met. This is a full-time position with 40 hours per week, including on-call hours and occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform regular housekeeping (cleaning, emptying trash, vacuuming, dusting) of office areas
• Keeping building grounds free from trash and debris
• Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, etc.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
• Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations and repairs

Position Requirements:

• Must have one year of previous experience and proficiency performing housekeeping/maintenance in and on buildings, grounds, and equipment
• Strong working knowledge of sanitation standards
• Proficient in safe methods of heavy lifting and moving heavy equipment and furniture
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Valid Alabama Driver’s license with good driving record and automobile insurance to meet agency standards
• Background check and pre-employment drug tests are required

Physical Requirements:

• Able to move consistently and walk/stand for up to 8 hours at a time
• Able to reach, bend, and stoop frequently and consistently throughout the workday
• Able to walk, stand, push, pull, or move a minimum of 75 pounds utilizing proper body mechanics and assistance
• Safely descend and ascend various types and heights of ladders
• Able to work under variable temperature conditions and noise levels in indoor and outdoor settings and around fumes and/or odor hazards, dust, biohazards, and chemicals

This position pays $12-$16 per hour to start and is eligible for benefits.
