Title of Position: PEI Mental Health Social Worker/Therapist
Location: Child and Adolescent Outpatient Program (GCAOP)

Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The PEI Child & Adolescent Outpatient Therapist must have an MSW, MFT, or Masters in Counseling from an accredited university. Must be registered with BBS. As a PEI Child & Adolescent Outpatient Therapist/Social Worker, job responsibilities include the following: 1) provide psychotherapy to clients, ages 6-21, in individual, family, and group settings. 2) ensure psychotherapy is culturally and linguistically competent, 3) utilize Evidence Based Practices and measures to assess baseline, monitor progress, and guide treatment interventions, 4) maintain collaborative consultation with identified supports (school, probation, DCFS, treatment team) and 5) services are provided in the Child & Adolescent Outpatient Clinic, in the community, in local elementary, middle, and/or high school(s).
ESSENTIALS DUTIES
- Completes, in a timely manner, all required documentation as specified in the L.A. County Short Doyle / Medi-Cal Manual.
- Communicates effectively with clients families and significant others, when appropriate.
- Participates in child and adolescent treatment planning meetings.
- Works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Implements and is responsible for the treatment planning needs of assigned children and adolescents.
- Participates in program meetings and in service training as scheduled.
- Coordinates the Treatment plan as required by Los Angeles County.
- Productively participates in weekly individual and group supervision.
- Successfully provides at least 25 hours/week of individual, family and/or group psychotherapy, as assigned.
- Effectively presents clinical case material as needed.
- Maintains active and effective liaison with relevant community agencies and maintains contact with referring agencies and professionals.
- Provides services in the school, community, home or in locations where family is comfortable receiving treatment
- Provides crisis intervention services
- Carries out on-call responsibilities for crises when they arise
- Exercises good judgement by objectively and unemotionally analyzing facts, weighing evidence, and reaching sound conclusions.
- Responds appropriately under difficult or stressful circumstance
- Maintains job interest and technical skills.
- Performs other additional tasks as assigned
- Utilizes Evidenced Based Practices in children, adolescent, family treatment
- Inputs documentation in Electronic Health Record system
- Ability to complete written documentation (ie. Progress notes) within 24 hours
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
• Ability to work and relate effectively with the multidisciplinary treatment teams, clients, and the public.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to remain calm, objective, and dependable in situations where clients are emotional or uncooperative and situations where there are assignments that must be met.
• Ability to appropriately follow instructions and feedback from supervisors.
• Functional experience with the Los Angeles County Mental Health System.
• Provide at least 25 hours of service delivery weekly
• Ability to sit for periods of 2 hours.
• Experience with an electronic health record system
• Knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft office, email communication, video conferencing, and typing.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES
- Masters Degree from accredited school of Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or LPCC and registered with the Board of Behavioral Science (BBSE) or Board of Psychology.
- Registered with BBS and/or Licensed Waivered
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- The PEI Child & Adolescent Outpatient Therapist must have an MSW, MFT, or Masters in Counseling from an accredited university. Must be registered with BBS. Responsibilities providing psychotherapy to client’s ages 6-21 in individual, family and group settings.
- Successful employment or internship providing individual child, adolescent, family and group therapy.
- Employment or Internship experience in crisis intervention.
- Experience in treatment planning.
- Experience utilizing Evidenced Based Practices (TF-CBT, Triple P, IPT, MAP, CORS, Seeking Safety)
REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
- Valid California Driver’s license.
- TB clearance.
- Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
- Fire and Safety Training*.
- First Aid Training Certification*.
- CPR Certification*.
- Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI)**
* Note: If indicated certifications/licenses are lacking, they must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
**Training needs to be completed within 30 days from the date of hire on a designated date provided by onboarding. Staff need to be certified at the commensurate level for their role to perform their job duties (staff will be taken off the schedule if certification is not achieved).

Salary : $29 - $30
