Description

Gather Federal Credit Union is currently recruiting for an Operation Officer for our upcoming Kilauea Branch Office, scheduled to open towards the end of the year. To ensure a seamless transition and optimal readiness for the branch opening, we are initiating the hiring process now. Training for the selected candidates will be conducted at our Kapaa and Kukui Grove Branch Offices, allowing for comprehensive preparation ahead of the launch. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 8:00a-5:00p

Reports to: Branch Manager

Pay Grade: 8- $24.00 - $30.00 an Hour


Role:

Under the general direction of the Branch Manager, assist and service members in a professional and courteous manner to build and strengthen the relationship between members and Gather FCU. Responsible for anticipating and meeting member financial service needs through promotion, cross sales and delivery of our products and services. Deliver excellent member service consistent with Gather FCU’s service standards. Ensure that the Financial Services operational requirements are fulfilled. Maintain and control the necessary cash requirements for the daily operations. Assumes a leadership role and serves as a resource for the Member Experience Representative, and Financial Services Specialist staff.


Essential Functions:

30%

Represent the credit union to members in a courteous and professional manner and provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service. Provides guidance to staff in resolving operational issues and problems. Exercises sound judgment in assisting Member Experience Representative, and Financial Services Specialists with difficult situations. Makes decisions regarding check holds and exceptions to credit union policies and procedures that are in the best interest of the members and the credit union. Refers to Manager when appropriate. Assist in the training of Member Experience Representatives and Financial Services Specialists and provides input toward performance evaluations. Responds to members having complaints and/or inquiries and initiates any corrective measures.

Maintains the Change Fund, reconciles the Change Fund with the Accounting Department, orders and verifies receipt of cash from bank. Collects funds on NSF checks promptly, maintains a log on all NSF deposit/reversal transactions, and files police check complaint forms on uncollectible accounts. Maintains, reconciles, and orders the gift card and money order subsidiaries. Responsible for the timely review and processing of daily and periodic reports. a. Maintains negotiable instruments log b. Initiates CTR filings and forwards to the Branch Manager for review. Assist in the service and maintenance of the Safe Deposit Box program. Assists members with lost or stolen share drafts and/or plastic cards and ensures proper documentation for processing claims. Maintains and balances the Petty Cash Fund and Postage Stamp Log.

Maintains complete knowledge of credit union programs, products and services to provide information, properly answer inquiries and to perform cross selling to existing and potential members. a. Promote and explain other credit union services such as IRA’s, certificates, safe deposit boxes, and money orders, and consumer and mortgage loans. b. Provide information on investment alternatives to members wishing to deposit funds with the credit union. Performs the duties of a Member Experience Representative and Financial Services Specialist when needed.

Ensures that individual cash cans are balanced each day and assist Member Experience Representatives in balancing and correcting errors. Assigned override privileges. Provides transaction overrides to Member Experience Representatives and Financial Services Specialists at all offices. Performs corrections or adjustments to account transactions. Maintains accuracy through all phases of work and insures cash drawer and daily work is balanced on a daily basis.

Ensures that Stations are adequately manned and ready for business throughout each business day in order to provide optimal line service to members. Maintains adequate inventory supplies for the Department and submits requests for replenishment to the Branch Manager. Keeps Branch Manager informed of member activities within the office that could affect operations.


Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Requirements

Education, Experience, Certifications and or Licenses:

Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting or related field from an accredited college plus Two (2) years experience as a Teller or Member Services Representative in a Financial Institution; or a High School graduate plus four (4) years experience as a Teller or Member Services Representative in a Financial Institution; or (1) year Gather FCU employee with (1) year Member Experience Representative experience. • Knowledge of Gather FCU policies and procedures preferred. • Ability to write procedures • Ability to provide leadership in a team environment. A high school degree or GED is required.


Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with members, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.


Other Skills

Computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Windows and Excel.


Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.


Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to plan and direct the work activities of self and others. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with extreme accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of member service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
