Gather Thrift & Cafe is looking for a Barista to prepare and serve espresso and coffee drinks, make to-go orders, and conduct daily food prep work. Barista responsibilities include grinding beans, preparing fresh coffee drinks and various coffee-related items. To be successful in this role, you should have work-related knowledge and training on how to perform various tasks in our store. You should be able to work with a variety of resources throughout the day, so you will be equipped with the ability to learn about our store’s menu items and assist customers accordingly. Ultimately, you will ensure an excellent customer experience and be a key part of the team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fresh hot or cold drinks using the appropriate equipment
- Make to-go orders
- Greet customers as they enter your section of the store
- Answer questions or make recommendations for complementary products
- Receive and process payments (cash and credit)
- Keep the bar area clean and organized
- Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
- Check if new equipment is needed or repaired
- Comply with health and safety regulations
- Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new features

- A strong attention to detail with an ability to follow instructions
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) with an ability to help direct conversations
- Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per day) with or without reasonable accommodation. This position requires prolonged standing, bending, squatting, stooping, crouching, and moving about the store.
