Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated, reliable and motivated Floating Bartender/Server to join the Gatlinburg Brewing Company team. As a Taproom Bartender/Server, you will be at the forefront of our operation with a primary responsibility of product knowledge, taproom sales, and most importantly, guest satisfaction and retention. This position will float between both of our taprooms (Gatlinburg and Sevierville) to fill in any shifts needed.
Duties: We are full service. Service responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Greet guests quickly with enthusiasm and friendliness
- Provide recommendations on menu items and answer any questions
- Take food and drink orders accurately and promptly while using all opportunities to upsell
- Deliver food and beverages to tables in a timely manner ensuring that all items are accurate and accounted for. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service
- Ensure guest satisfaction by addressing any concerns or issues promptly
- Process payments accurately using the POS system
- Clear tables and reset them for the next guests
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area
- Must possess a strong work ethic - able to work in a fast paced environment for prolonged periods of time with integrity and drive
- Develop and maintain relationships with guests - both new and regulars. Building relationships builds sales.
- Communicate with all staff and management to ensure guest satisfaction
- Follow all service and cleanliness checklists and standard operating procedures at all times
- Constantly increase knowledge about beer and other products and services - many of our products, beer specifically, changes constantly. You must be able to maintain a working knowledge of all offerings, even as they change
- Required to follow alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and dealing with intoxicated guests
- Ability to maintain an accurate cash drawer every shift - discrepancies will be your sole responsibility
Qualifications:
- Bartending/serving and brewery experience preferred but not required
- Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays
- Valid TABC Permit or ability to obtain one within 90 days - cost of this will be your responsibility
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
- Must have a passion for craft beer, guest service and the brewery atmosphere
- Must be able to stand and walk on concrete for long periods of time
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Excellent time management skills to work on multiple tasks at once and prioritize effectively
- Sales skills - this is a sales job - the higher your sales, the higher your tip potential becomes.
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation includes a base hourly rate plus tips. The average weekly take home for a full time server is $700 to $1000. Tips are not shared with other FOH staff members. Credit card tips will be paid weekly on your paycheck - cash tips are taken home each shift. A tip share of 2% of total sales to bartenders plus a tip share of 1.5% of total sales to kitchen staff is required daily and is to be paid in cash. All training hours will be paid at a training rate. Employees receive a 50% discount on food, a 35% discount on merchandise and one free draft beer at the end of each shift. Two free work shirts will be provided at the end of training.

Positions Available:
We’re looking to one position to serve both of our locations. A variety of shifts are available including days, nights, weekends and mid-shifts. Shifts range from 4 hours to 12 hours.
