This position will help lead all functions within the facility to provide a safe and helpful workplace for all employees and visitors. This Position ensures employees and visitors comply with all Federal, State and Corporate policies and regulations regarding GATX Rail confined space entry, hot work and all other safety programs.
Responsibilities
- Ensures proper documentation and authorization are followed regarding confined space entries and hot work activity.
- Calibrate and maintain all atmospheric monitoring equipment for confined space entry.
- Attend emergency Response Team Meetings. Inspect emergency equipment to ensure it is all accounted for and in proper working order
- Assist and provide employees with first aid treatments. Evaluate if further treatment is required.
- Assist in investigating accidents to determine causes, contributing factors and recommend preventative actions for future accident.
- Keep work area in clean organized condition
- Communicate with supervisor as needed.
- Keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Comply with the established safety policies, support-continuing awareness for safety,and when possible recommend specific changes and improvements to health and safety policies and programs.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as 10 instructions, FM instructions and work orders.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide two digit numbers.
- Ability to reason through and plan work details and procedures to obtain desired results.
- Two — four years related work experience in Rail-car business, confined space entry required.
- Needs to be a qualified ERT member including CPR/First Aid qualifications
- Knowledgeable of Rail-car repairs.
- Knowledgeable of OSHA regulations.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic computer knowledge and strong communication skills.
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions.
- Must be able to perform overhead work for extended periods.
- Must be able to safely lift (vertically) up to 51 pounds, regularly, and safely lift up to 85 pounds, occasionally, from the ground surface.
- Must be able to push/pull (horizontally) up to 140 pounds of force.
- Must be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
- Must be able to work in extreme temperature environments.
- Must be able to physically enter confined space and work in enclosed environments.
The starting hourly rate for this position is $27.14 per hour.
