POSITION SUMMARY:
The Armed Security Guard is responsible for the safety and security of the facilities they protect. Our security officers act as a visible deterrent to crime and employee rule infractions; they detect and report suspicious, unsafe or criminal acts at or near the assigned post, which may be a threat to the property, guests or employees at the site.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from management personnel; may assist other departmental employees in the performance of the job functions. Supervises other position(s). Frequently exercises discretion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responds to unusual or emergency situations at client’s site using the appropriate escalation of force level up to and including armed response by following established protocol.
- Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons.
- Controls access to client site or facility through the admittance process; precludes unauthorized access to facilities, and the conversion, theft or intentional destruction of physical assets.
- Observes and reports activities and incidents, providing for the security and safety of the client’s property and personnel.
- Makes periodic tours to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment.
- Preserves order and acts to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
- Monitors entrances and exits; acts to prevent unapproved or unlawful entry; controls entrances, the movement of people and vehicles, and parking.
- Patrols assigned site on foot; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations.
- Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to client representatives or company management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have a valid D & G Licenses.
- Must have a firearm with valid permit.
- Speak and write both English and Spanish fluently.
- Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
- Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting; may require computer skills.
- Must be able to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions.
- As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test.
- As a condition of continued employment, employee must maintain current active status of all required License at all times, and must carry the license at all times while on duty.
- Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Remain flexible to ever changing environments; adapt well to different situations.
- Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites.
- Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Ability to handle both common and crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently.
- Read, understand and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones.
- Must be able to handle pressure of working with high volume general public (constantly to occasionally depending on assignment).
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The ability to respond to common inquiries relating to the areas of service assigned.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their fingers.
- The employee may be required to frequently alternate between sitting and standing for short to prolonged periods of time.
- The employee frequently is required to talk and/or hear, including the use of telephones and cellular devices.
- The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to hear and distinguish sounds such as machinery, telephones, and alarms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in prioritizing projects delegated by the supervisor.
- Physical presence in the office required to perform job duties.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM must be willing and able to work some Saturdays or stay beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet business demands.
