Clinical Director: General Adult Program
Job Description:
Gavia Lifecare Center is seeking a Clinical Director to help provide high-quality adult outpatient specific treatment throughout the agency and in the greater Rochester area. This is a leadership position, and at Gavia Lifecare Center we are looking for a clinician who can aid in the development and advancement of our established team of clinicians. Community engagement and ability to perform individual therapy to individuals from the general adult population are key components of this role, in addition to supervision of other clinical staff.
At Gavia Lifecare Center, we are an OMH licensed outpatient mental healthcare center on the forefront of implementing integrated mental healthcare services independent of a large medical facility. We pride ourselves on providing high quality mental health counseling, medication management, and crisis services in an outpatient setting.
Job Summary:
The Clinical Director for Gavia LifeCare Center’s Adults team will oversee the daily operations of the assigned Adults clinical team, including supervision of clinical staff. The Clinical Director will also provide direct clinical services to individuals from within the general adult population.

Primary Duties:
Direct Clinical Services (50%)
- Clinical Expectations: Book 13, See 11 clients/week. Maintain a client caseload which allows you to meet these clinical expectations on a weekly basis.
- Clinical Focus: Provide individual therapy to individuals within the general adult population.
- Complete/close out all encounter notes/treatment plans within 24-48 hours.
- Maintain appropriate paperwork as required by OMH standards.
Supervisory Duties (35%)
- Ensure 100% compliance with all OMH regulations for assigned team
- Every week, provide one day of Daily Emergency Walk-In Director Coverage for the Agency at large.
- Every week, provide one night of Evening (5-7 pm) Emergency Director Coverage for the Agency at large.
- Provide required direct supervision to assigned team and document appropriately. Review/discuss number of scheduled sessions, high-risk and high-need clients, etc.
- Identify and manage any performance or behavioral concerns for team members. Collaborate with Executive Director, Director of Operations, and Human Resources for assistance with staff write-ups, documentation, or PIPs.
- Ensure all assigned staff have completed notes within 24-48 hours (72 hours for Friday appointments).
- Every Monday morning, identify and communicate to the appropriate staff all available Priority Access Appointment slots for your team
- If applicable, ensure all co-signatures are fully reviewed and signed off on a weekly basis.
- Hold weekly high-risk client meetings
- Hold weekly team/administrative meetings
- Hold monthly site meetings
- Attend monthly All-Agency meetings. Ensure your team attends, as well.
- Review and approve team time cards on a bi-weekly basis, by Wednesday at 8am.
- Interview, hire, and on-board clinical staff for assigned team
- Other supervisory duties as assigned by Executive Director and Director of Operations
Program Development (15%)
- Development of Adult Program to include practice protocols, treatment standards, etc.
- Development of staff criteria for participation in the Adult Program
- Facilitation of a supervision group
- Implementation of programs throughout the agency. This may include all agency trainings, consultation with staff regarding specific cases, participation in site specific team meetings to review specific treatment options for clients
- Community involvement promoting this program to become known as a premier Adult Outpatient Program in Upstate NY
Physical demands:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Required education and experience:
- Masters’ degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or similar
- 1 year(s) experience performing individual supervision with clinicians
- 3 years' experience working as a clinician in a clinical mental health setting or other equivalent experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Preferred education and experience:
- LMHC/LCSW
