Purpose: To assist the teacher in the management of the classroom and to assist students in their learning activities.

- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess/movement breaks, and field trips (as appropriate).
- Observes students in classroom setting and discusses observation notes with the teacher.
- Assists with lunch, snack, & cleanup routines.
- Assists with wash-up and toilet routines.
- Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Support and enforce policies as established by the school district.
- Participate in in-service training programs and attends meetings, as appropriate
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by an administrator/teacher.
