What are the responsibilities and job description for the Low Voltage Technician position at Gaylor Electric?
SCOPE OF WORK:
- Physically install category structured cabling distribution systems per design interpretations or engineered designed drawings.
- Installation of telecommunication outlets, cables, fire stopping, and supports
- Install, terminate and certify both multi-mode and single-mode fiber
- Installs, identifies and terminates various types of cable and wire in various locations, including coax, data, power cables and grounding systems as well as understanding of industry standard color code.
- Perform new and retro-fit Commercial Data, Voice, Fiber Optic and Paging cabling installations.
- A strong working knowledge of TIA and BICSI Standards; including installation, trouble shooting and service.
- Proficient with the proper use of trade hand and power tools.
- Experience in reading and interpreting engineered drawings, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
- Ability to install, test, modify, and repair a wide range of support equipment.
- Adept at using test equipment in the testing and troubleshooting of data circuits and fiber optic cabling.
- Proficient with the installation components within Telecommunications Equipment Rooms.
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of fiber-optic, coax and network cable, and telecommunications/electronic installation procedures.
- Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- EDUCATION: High school graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent studies/experience.
- EXPERIENCE: 2 years or equivalent experience with Structured Cabling, Fiber Optic cabling terminations and testing, D-Marc extensions,
