- Physical Inventory Counts :
Regularly conduct cycle counts of lumber and building materials throughout the yard, comparing physical stock to computer inventory records and identifying discrepancies.
Accurately input inventory data into the company's management system, including product codes, purchase orders, quantities received, stock locations, and any relevant details from delivery receipts.
Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders, checking for quantity accuracy and product condition, and updating inventory records accordingly.
Maintain organized stock placement within the lumber yard, assigning and updating product locations in the system for efficient retrieval.
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies found during inventory checks, identifying root causes and taking corrective actions.
Generate inventory reports highlighting stock levels, low-stock items, and potential issues to inform purchasing decisions.
Check for damaged or defective lumber during receiving and inventory checks, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
Required Skills :
High level of accuracy in data entry and inventory counting to maintain precise records.
Familiarity with inventory management systems and proficiency in data entry applications.
Ability to calculate quantities, reconcile discrepancies, and perform basic inventory calculations.
Comfortable working outdoors in a lumber yard environment, including lifting and moving lumber.
Efficiently managing inventory data and maintaining a well-organized stock area.
Effective communication with warehouse staff, sales team, and suppliers regarding inventory status and discrepancies.
Requirements : Education / Training
High School or GED equivalent.
Forklift certification preferred but not required.
Experience
Previous customer service experience preferred but not required. OSHA requirements for forklift operation include a minimum age of 18.
Physical Demands
Standing, walking, lifting (up to 80lbs) and climbing.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
