What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Coordinator position at GB Packaging?
The Position :
Reporting to the Quality Manager of the Fremont Division, the Quality Coordinator will provide support in evaluating quality of products to all departmental areas. A keen eye for detail and the ability to focus for long periods is needed to ensure the Plant follows the Quality Management System as prescribed in the latest version of BRCGS standard. Together with the Quality Manager, the Quality Coordinator is responsible for HACCP plan, SOP's and requirements associated with Product Safety as well as the proven continuous improvement process (CIP). In using Power BI, the Quality Coordinator will measure effectiveness of quality CIP CAPA's, production processes, and lab data graphically to evaluate sustainability. Along with handling current quality issues, the Quality Coordinator will also behave proactively in mitigating product defects before they occur.
BRCGS Packaging Standards Certification Responsibilities :
- Maintain BRCGS Food Standards and certification
- Plans and directs Product Safety / HACCP team activities and schedule
- Plans and directs HARA team activities and schedule
- Plans internal audit annual schedule for each BRCGS Section
- Coordinate and support annual BRCGS 3rd party certification audit
- Coordinate Trace Analysis on mock recalls and 3rd party certification audit
- Enter, monitor and close out corrective and preventative actions for internal and 3rd party audit non-conformances
- Site inspections for both production plant and warehouse facilities
- Coordinate with BRC site cleaning personnel to ensure requirements for BRC cleanliness standards are being followed
- Coordinate with pest control services to maintain records for both production plant and warehouse facilities
- Ensure operating procedures are established and implemented to meet requirements of the BRC Global Standard
- Conduct 3rd party internal BRCGS audits at other GBP divisions
PowerBI Metrics and Quality Management System Responsibilities :

The Person / Qualifications :
An undergraduate degree in Process Engineering, Quality / Food Safety, Business, or related field and / or at least three years of experience in an industrial setting is preferred. Or, an undergraduate degree with a certificate from the American Society of Quality and / or significant experience is also a preference. A corrugated manufacturing environment is preferred. Must be able to interpret BRC Standards or other GFSI food safety program, HACCP procedures, engineering specifications, drawings, and other written documents related to the corrugated industry. Must be able to make critical decisions to support customers. Must have practical knowledge of customer relation's protocol. A background in ISO is a plus. Must be able to travel to support customer requirements.
Skills and Abilities :
Education : High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in business management desired.
Experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the corrugated, printing, converting or manufacturing industries desired.
Computer Skills : Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ability to navigate through production software including but not limited to; FFF, Kiwi, PowerBI, GBP applications, etc.
Work Environment : Position will spend a portion of their workday on the plant floor exposed to the noise, dust, humidity, temperatures, and traffic of the manufacturing process. When not on the plant floor this position will work in a shared office environment and occasionally travel to off-site customer locations to evaluate quality issues related to automated equipment that utilizes products GBP produces.
