Overview
The Operations Training Manager at GB Railfreight is responsible for promoting and managing the day-to-day running of training courses and simulators, delivering training packages and shaping innovative scenarios on both our static and mobile simulators. You’ll partner closely with the business, identifying new opportunities for training which are compatible with our current core training programmes and ensuring operational staff training and assessments are delivered in line with our Standards and Competency Management System.
Your knowledge of the rail industry will form a key element for the development of training packages to ensure they are enhanced to represent industry best practices and are compliant with operational and occupational standards.
This role is based in our Peterborough office. The role is Monday to Friday and may require occassional weekend work.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver a high standard of Train driver/Rail Operations training. Proactively plan, organise, manage and deliver training sessions including rules, practical and traction knowledge.
- To deliver high-quality learning and assessment ensuring all employees/learners meet or exceed their predicted outcome.
- To maintain accurate records and track learner progress ensuring you are complying with the requirements of GBRf.
- Oversee the creation, development, and delivery of simulation-based training programs.
- Ensure all training programs comply with safety regulations and industry standards, maintaining a high level of safety and operational performance.
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations, feedback, and performance reviews, adjusting content as necessary to meet learning objectives.
Qualifications
Skills and experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ Train driving experience required.
- Assessor qualification or experience would be beneficial, however full training provided.
- Professional standards and exhibit role model behaviour.
- You must have an exemplary Safety of the Line performance record.
- Good level of IT skills & willingness to learn bespoke IT systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of learners.
Willingness to challenge and correct incorrect practices
Passionate about safety and standards.
Essential Qualifications
- Freight Train driving competence.
- Hold a valid Train Driving License (TDL).
Desirable
- RO competence and Assessor/Instructor/Verifier qualifications
- Previous experience as a Mentor
