Engineering Technician

GBA is looking for a candidate to support our Transportation Market in Lenexa, KS. This is a highly responsible position requiring superior communication and technical skills necessary to analyze and solve technical problems and producing design solutions using CAD skills. For this position, we are looking for someone who can learn quickly and is self-motivated.

Essential Functions:

• Assist engineers in the preparation of design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
• Conduct field surveys and inspections to collect data and ensure project compliance with design standards.
• Complete design work independently with limited supervision from senior staff.?
• Prepare quantity takeoffs of material for construction cost estimates.
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

• Associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a civil engineering or related technical role.
• Strong working technical knowledge of transportation engineering principles and practices
• Experience using latest versions of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD software.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Technical Skills & Abilities:

• Skilled in the use of computer aided drafting skills; competent in the use of printing and production equipment

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Varying work environment from prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer to extended periods of walking or standing.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel:

• Some overnight travel may be necessary for this position.? Some occasional local day travel will be required.
