Geospatial LiDAR Technician
At GBA, we are seeking LiDAR Technician to help with the growth, and further expansion of the group. The right candidate will have an interest in the collection, processing, and extraction of 3D scanning data, including Mobile LiDAR, Aerial LiDAR, Aerial Photogrammetry and Terrestrial LiDAR. Land survey field experience is a plus. The type of jobs we work on range from DOT jobs, municipality corridor design base maps, topography for storm and sanitary design, energy corridor surveys, streetscape design, and many more. We offer a variety of work and learning experiences from project to project. The LiDAR Department Technician position will primarily be helping with the collection of scan data, processing of the collected scan data and the extracting of topographic line work utilizing TopoDOT for MicroStation and Trimble Business Center (TBC). The right candidate will be detail oriented, willing to learn land survey from experienced field personnel, and excited about learning cutting edge software, while ensuring accuracies and quality remain at the highest level and ensuring that the projects are done correctly and in a timely fashion.
Essential Functions:
- Able to perform collection, processing, and extraction of LiDAR data
- Strong understanding of, or willingness to learn all aspects of the equipment used to collect mobile, aerial, and terrestrial LiDAR data
- Strong understanding of, or willingness to learn all aspects of the software used for processing and extracting LiDAR data
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Troubleshooting issues that may arise.
- Ensure projects are being done correctly and in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
- High school graduate, or equivalent, with continue education courses, trade school, or specific training in a related field
- Land Surveying field experience is a plus.
- Communicate effectively with internal staff to gather all information needed for processing Mobile, Aerial, and Terrestrial LiDAR data and photogrammetry.
- Proficiency in MicroStation, Connect Edition is a plus.
- Experience in TopoDOT is a plus.
- Possess a valid drivers license
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
- Able to work well in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Travel:
- Approximately 5 weeks per year of travel is required.
