Regional Safety Specialist GBA Builders -
Location - Northern Virginia
The Regional Safety Specialist at GBA Builders oversees the general health and safety procedures for multiple project specific operations. The Safety Specialist ensures compliance with GBA Builders procedure, OSHA, state and site-specific regulations/rules. The Safety Specialist conducts ongoing safety audits, issues/coordinates permitting, over-sees hazardous material handling and storage, provides training for safe practices as well as the use of personal protective equipment. The Safety Specialist collects data on accidents, incidents and near misses and assists the Safety Manager with investigations and reports of same. The Safety Specialist reports to and assists the GBA Builders Safety Manager with any/all issues pertaining to the Safety and Health of GBA Builders employees, subcontractors, clients and the general public in and around GBA Builders projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead efforts for creation of Site-Specific Safety Plans
Work with project teams to establish safe working environment for all
Assist/Participate in client sponsored safety meetings/training.
Conduct/record weekly (min.) Site Safety Audits at multiple sites to ensure and document safe working conditions.
Insure subcontractors follow GBA Builders procedure, OSHA, state, and site-specific regulations.
Assist GBA Builders Safety Manager as necessary.
Secondary Functions:
Ensure subcontractors are properly using their Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety documentation (JHAs, permits, training records, etc.).
Collect/record data and pertinent information.
Attend Foreman coordination meetings to offer advice on performing upcoming tasks safely,
Requirements:
At least 7 years of industrial construction safety experience.
Degree in Safety preferred.
CHST or equivalent preferred.
OSHA 500 preferred.
Partnership approach to working with site management, client management and sub-contractors.
MS Office Suite knowledge and excellent computer skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
Self-motivation and time management skills.
Ability to work with little or no supervision.
