Position Title: Payroll Assistant

Job Summary:
The Payroll Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the payroll department by assisting with the preparation, processing, and administration of payroll for all employees. This position involves ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, managing employee records, handling payroll-related inquiries, and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Job Description:
- Assist in the preparation and processing of weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payroll.
- Verify employee hours, timecards, and attendance records to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure that payroll is processed on time and in compliance with applicable deadlines.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including personal information, tax forms, direct deposit details, and benefits enrollment.
- Process new hires, terminations, salary changes, and adjustments in payroll software.
- Assist employees with completing payroll-related documentation (e.g., direct deposit forms, tax withholding forms).
- Assist with auditing payroll records for accuracy and compliance with company policies and government regulations.
- Prepare reports and assist with audits, including gathering necessary data for internal or external payroll audits.
- Ensure that benefits deductions are accurately reflected in the payroll system
- Maintain a filing system for payroll-related documentation (physical and electronic).
- Maintain good relationships with all office and field staff
- Represent and promote Grayson Carter and Son in a professional and honest manner
- Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Capable of working a flexible schedule
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all job sites as required
- Ability to obtain an Arsenal and FBI badge
- Physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 25 pounds
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in payroll processing or accounting is preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
