Experience and abilities you will need:
High school diploma or equivalent (Engineering degree or experience in Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Robotics preferred).
Proficiency in chemistry, math, and computer skills.
Two years of cement plant experience. (preferred).
Knowledge of ASTM and API testing procedures (preferred).
Experience in chemical and x-ray analysis. (preferred).
Strong record-keeping, documentation, and communication skills.
Physically fit for tasks requiring bending, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing, and lifting heavy objects.
What you will do:
Under the supervision of the laboratory management (QC Manager or Chemist), the Utility Operator will serve as a backup for Quality Control Technicians or Physical Testers and assist in maintaining laboratory equipment essential for quality control and assurance. Additionally, the Utility Lab Operator may occasionally perform sampling duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with GCC policies, MSHA regulations, and plant safety procedures.
Conduct daily workplace inspections and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
Follow safety protocols for equipment operation, lockout/tagout, confined spaces, and hazardous material disposal.
Support and enhance the 5S system and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the lab.
Perform chemical and diffraction analysis (X-ray, glass) on raw materials, clinker, finished products, fuels, and special samples.
Analyze key chemical components (CaCO3, Free Lime, SO3, Moisture, Ash, Gypsum, etc.).
Conduct quality control activities to maintain product standards.
Maintain accurate test records and report anomalies to supervisors.
Prepare, blend, identify, and perform ASTM/API standard physical tests on silo samples.
support with vendors for equipment maintenance, improvements, and technology upgrades.
Manage SAP work orders and notifications as directed.
Operate and maintain Automatic sample preparation module (APM), crusher, mills, autosamplers, XRF, XRD, chillers, deduster, pulverizer, particle size distribution, and lab equipment in general.
Adapt to various tasks as needed to support plant operations and new projects
Support on-call weekend.
