Job Summary :
The Farm Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of Camelina field operations and equipment maintenance within the organization. The position will also be responsible for managing the field operations staff. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to manage field operations and contribute to the success of our breeding and agronomy endeavors in Camelina crop development.
Essential Functions :
- Oversee the company’s Camelina field operation activities in the US to ensure field tasks are completed efficiently.
- Operate farm / research plot equipment for various field trials and seed production tasks, including pre-plant land preparation, planting, spraying, and harvesting.
- Coordinate the timing of equipment readiness / availability and field activities with the company’s breeding and agronomy teams.
- Maintain and repair or arrange repair of farm machinery and equipment.
- Recommend and perform chemical applications and other treatments as needed to control pests and diseases in field trials.
- Manage employees’ performance, including hiring, training, and coaching of field operations staff and seasonal workers.
- Prepare budgets that detail anticipated costs for field operations, equipment purchase, and maintenance.
- Monitor weather conditions to ensure field operations are conducted at appropriate times.
- Perform other duties as required to meet research needs
- Demonstrate ownership of field operations decisions and performance
