This role is required to live close to Anchorage area to attend Career Fairs on a regular basis. Otherwise it will be work from home role. 

GCI's Recruiting Coordinator will support the Recruiting function and Recruiting team by performing administrative tasks that assist with finding, sourcing, attracting, and hiring talent. Coordinate and support companywide internal and external recruitment processes throughout Alaska and the lower 48.

  • Proficient computer skills and MS Office knowledge (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) to complete job duties effectively. 
    • Familiarity with Adobe applications and understanding of records management systems and electronic documents. 
    • Ability to utilize Microsoft Teams for virtual communication and real-time collaboration such as chat and video calls, meetings, and file sharing.
    • Working knowledge of social media.

Additional Job Requirements:

This is a mid-level position requiring the ability to work independently under general supervision. Performs moderately complex and diverse duties under deadlines and constraints, referring more complex issues to higher level staff. Possesses a strong working knowledge of recruiting processes.

Essential Duties:

Administrative Support:

  • Format job postings, work with compensation team to ensure job descriptions are current and ensure background checks are completed.
  • Manage all paperwork associated with onboarding new employees and internal competitive promotions and transfers.
  • Monitor Careers inbox and respond or forward inquires as appropriate. 
  • Post ads on Facebook, LinkedIn, and other job sites. 
  • Provide support and participate in recruitment projects and programs.

Applicant, Hiring Manager & Recruiter Support:

  • Refer appropriate candidates to recruiters and hiring managers.
  • Assist hiring managers with posting positions and opening requisitions. 
  • Reach out and communicate with external candidates regarding their application status.
  • Represent and promote the benefits of joining the organization to potential applicants by providing information, responding to questions, and collecting applicant data.
  • Assist with identifying issues affecting recruitment and implementing recruitment activities to continuously improve process.

New Hire Onboarding Support:

  • Ensure successful onboarding for New Hires.
  • Coordinate and communicate weekly new hire orientations.
  • Primary point of contact for I9’s and completion of E-verify.
  • Track and follow up on onboarding completion tasks for New Hires.

Companywide Support:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of recruitment, employment, HRSC, compensation, benefits, pay administration, and other related organizational policies, practices, procedures, and regulations.
  • Serve as an accurate resource for recruitment policies, procedures, and practices to supervisors, HR staff, and employees. Refer to recruiters and other staff as appropriate.
  • Support and participate in job fairs, community activities, and other public and departmental recruitment-related events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in an administrative support role. *

Preferred: 

  • Associate degree in business, human resources, or a related field.
  • One (1) or more years of Recruiting Coordinator experience.
  • Telecommunications experience.  
  • Relevant telecom industry or job specific certifications. 

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

  • This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:  
  • Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage.
  • Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.
  • Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions. 
  • Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary. 
  • Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers.
  • Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreements.
The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the core business hours to respond to an immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.
